Alcette was never happy with the path laid out for her. She chose to play guitar when she was supposed to be playing war, she chose to be a woman when she was supposed to choose being a man, and when she’s sent to kill the dragon that's been graciously coexisting with her village for the last twenty years--despite their constant assassination attempts--maybe it shouldn't be so surprising that she chooses something different this time, too.

I Was Supposed to Slay the Dragon is a queer love story about having a big strong dragon gf who loves you more than anything in the world. It's also about punk rock and found family and being yourself no matter the consequences. I've enjoyed writing it a great deal, and I hope you enjoy reading it too.

These first three chapters were written for Light Novelvember 2018. The rest of the story is still a work in progress. It's coming along pretty well, I think. I've had my outline nailed down from the beginning and I have a lot of ideas for the rest of the story and later scenes that I'm really looking forward to writing. This is going to be a longer project than anything I've ever completed and published, but I'm feeling motivated and up to the task, and all I have to do is keep chipping away at it until it's done. It might take a while, but if you'd like to help me finish it sooner, you can throw a couple of bucks at my Patreon. I have a much longer preview of the entire first act up for $3 patrons, and I think it's all really cute stuff. You'll also get to hold me accountable with progress updates and read some extra material from other stories and projects I'll be poking at and working on along the way. The book will get finished regardless, but your support will help keep the work moving along smoothly, and when it's finally done you'll be the first to get your hands on it.

Even if you can't or don't want to support my work financially, I appreciate everybody who takes the time to read what I've written, and everybody who leaves a comment or shares this around or anything you do out there on social media. Like all writers I crave validation, so if you like what you see, tell your friends about this weird gay dragon novel you're looking forward to! Or don't, that's fine by me too, but it would be nice.
